ROLE OVERVIEW
Own end-to-end technology delivery for Maxxton's Pune development center, leading the Backend (Java), Frontend (Angular), and QA/Testing guilds as a single, unified engineering organisation of 90+ people. This role consolidates existing guild leadership under one accountable owner, translating global product and architecture direction set by the CTO (Netherlands) into an execution roadmap for India. This role will be reporting to the CTO directly. You will be expected to build a scalable, high-performing, AI-augmented engineering culture and act as the senior-most technology voice on the ground in Pune. Directly manages the Backend, Frontend, and QA Guild Leads, with full accountability for delivery, quality, and talent across all three guilds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology strategy & architecture
- Execute & Implement architecture direction, technical debt strategy, and platform scalability across the backend, frontend and testing stacks
- Partner with the CTO to translate global product and architecture strategy into an India execution roadmap
- Make build-vs-buy and platform investment calls for the India engineering organisation
Guild & organisation leadership
- Directly manage Guild Leads for Backend, Frontend, and QA following the guild consolidation; ensure a smooth transition with continuity for existing leads
- Ensure cross-guild alignment on release quality, dependencies, and delivery velocity
- Resolve cross-guild conflicts on priority, resourcing, and technical direction
Delivery & quality ownership
- Own sprint-to-release predictability across 90+ engineers
- Execute & Implement production stability, incident response, and root-cause discipline across guilds
- Set and enforce release-readiness and quality gates across Backend, Frontend, and QA
Talent & org building
- Own hiring, capability-building, and succession planning for a 90-person organisation
- Build a leadership bench — Leads to Managers — to reduce single points of dependency
- Run performance calibration and career pathing for Guild Leads and senior engineers
Stakeholder & executive engagement
- Serve as the primary technology voice to the CTO and NL leadership
- Represent India engineering in global planning, roadmap, and budget discussions
- Communicate delivery risk and technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders clearly and early
AI & productivity
- Execute & Implement in coordination with the Core AI team for the AI usage standards for the technology org — Claude Code, Copilot-class tools, and AI-assisted testing
- Evaluate and select new engineering tooling; contribute to responsible AI governance at the org level
- Manage your own workload through time-blocking and priority-setting — deliver without follow-up from the CTO
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent; architecture or leadership certifications valued
- 15–20+ years in software engineering.
- Minimum 5 years leading multi-team or multi-guild engineering organisations of 50+ headcount
- Deep hands-on background in Java/Spring backend architecture, with strong exposure to Angular frontend and modern QA/test automation practices
- Experience managing distributed, matrixed reporting lines — India team, HQ leadership abroad
- SaaS or product-company background strongly preferred over services/consulting
- Comfortable with AI-assisted engineering tools; uses them to build team capability, not just personal productivity
